Are There Negative Green Tea Side Effects?

Much is said about the health benefits of green tea, yet not very many people discuss any other side effects of green tea. While it’s true that there are mostly positive green tea side effects, there are some negative ones that people should be aware of. As with anything we consume, there is a small percentage of people who may not be able to consume it without becoming ill. Green tea side effects are generally good, but be prepared to be one of the minority, just in case.

Of course, we have all heard of green tea side effects such as weight loss, fresh breath, more energy, improved immune system, inhibiting cancer cell growth, preventing tooth decay, and more. But, are there other green tea side effects that we don’t normally hear? There are, and a lot of the time it’s because to experience negative green tea side effects you have to consume mass quantities of the tea, and many side effects are just not known yet.

One of the most common negative green tea side effects is insomnia. Insomnia is simply caused by the caffeine in the tea, and in all teas. This type of green tea side effect can actually be avoided by steering clear of green tea 3-4 hours before bed, if not longer. Insomnia related green tea side effects are also caused by the fact that green tea is known for it’s ability to provide people with energy, so only drink it when you’ll be out and about, and may even need the extra energy boost!

Another of the more negative green tea side effects is bowel problems. Tea acts as a natural diuretic, and when it’s consumed in large quantities it’s effects are even greater. Of course, this is one of the green tea side effects that can be eliminated by consuming green tea in smaller amounts so that the green tea side effects are not quite as intense. Many people find that trying another variation of the green tea will lesson these negative green tea side effects.

Generally speaking, there are not that many negative green tea side effects. Of course, each person is a bit different, but most of the green tea side effects are positive, and even those that are not all that positive may be worth all of the great things that green tea can do for ones health and life long term.
